Ontario Plein Air Society is pleased to endorse A Brush With The Highlands, one of the premier plein air festivals in Ontario. The 3 day festival takes place in the Haliburton Highlands around Wilberforce, Ontario from July 31 to August 3 (August long weekend). This area is among the most stunning, unique and dramatic landscapes on the Canadian Shield. You will be painting around some of the most intriguing environmentally sensitive and significant areas in Canada.
Last year’s inaugural event was attended by many OPAS members and we won 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th place in the juried competition and show on the last day. The event is very well planned and catered with constant flow of fresh cold water, bug spray and other comforts brought to you while you paint! These folks are phenomenal. The nights are planned as well, with a bonfire, BBQ and prizes set for the first night and plenty of generosity from the hosts of the event on their private property around the clock. The festival entails two complete days of painting with nightly events around the camp fire and a juried competition, show and sale on the last day. Each artist is allowed to show three paintings for the juried competition and sale at no additional cost.
We would love to see a strong showing for this event. OPAS is giving away a wet-panel award on the last day for a juried work done on site during the paint-out events. Please make plans to attend and let’s make A Brush With The Highlands the OPAS “must-attend” gathering of the year. Wear your OPAS T-Shirt or show your OPAS Button and let’s make this festival the one to talk about all year!
